Tyburn Martyrs Walk
About this event
The Tyburn Martyrs Walk will take place on 17th May 2026 gathering at St Giles in the Fields, London.
It is suitable for all a walk of less than 2 miles. We will solemnly remember and honour the latter part of the route that they took to their martyrdom. The Walk is particularly to pray for the the conversion of England to the Old Faith, the Catholic Faith for which so many of our countrymen and women died.
Programme
We will gather at 1.30pm in St Giles in the Fields Churchyard. The churchyard at the back has a large paved area and there is a patch of grass. It would hold I would say 200-300 people.
I will go over some practicalities of the walk such as the route and safety aspects.
Joanna Bogle the author and broadcaster will give a shortish talk while we gather in the Churchyard on the martyrs.
Since it is a devotional activity I would suggest that as far as possible we either walk in silence or pray the rosary or other prayers as seems good.
There is an opportunity to register your interest in the walk it would be very helpful if you could do this.
If you would be willing to hold a flag (two people, two poles per flag) this would also be very helpful to ensure that the bystanders get an idea of what we are doing. The flags also would be useful for people to follow.
The route is very straightforward as on the map above there will be be an opportunity to venerate the place of martyrdom by kissing the plaque for those who wish.
The sisters will be expecting us in the perpetual adoration chapel where Benediction is scheduled every Sunday at 3.30pm.
After Benediction anyone who wishes can go down stairs to the crypt where there are many relics of the martyrs and the sisters will offer tea and biscuits.
After this for those who wish please bring with you a picnic in Hyde Park if the weather is fair.
