Teachers' Weekend Retreat For Men
About this event
A time of reflection for male teachers — for one cannot give what one does not have
WHY A RETREAT?
This retreat aims to help educators reflect on their professional vocation “The Church needs men and women who are intent on teaching by word and example — intent on helping to permeate the whole educational milieu with the spirit of Christ. This is a great vocation, and the Lord himself will reward all who serve in it as educators in the cause of the word of God.” (John Paul II, 1979). By stepping away from the noise of school life, one might create the interior space needed to hear what truly matters.
WHAT IS A RETREAT?
A retreat is a dedicated time to step away from the noise of daily life and enter into a space of prayer, silence, and reflection. It is an ancient practice of the Church, and one that bears fruit in proportion to the generosity with which it is embraced.
Pope Leo XIV recently reminded us that education is a mission of love — and that those who teach must themselves be formed, renewed, and sustained by something deeper than professional skill alone.
This silent retreat is designed to help men working in education draw closer to Jesus Christ through the richness of Catholic spiritual life: personal prayer, meditation, Holy Mass, Stations of the Cross, the Holy Rosary, the Sacrament of Confession, and individual spiritual guidance.
The meditations will be preached by a priest of the Opus Dei Prelature, following the life of Jesus Christ as the model and inspiration for every teacher who seeks to give what he himself has first received in prayer and silence.
POPE LEO XIV, 2025
"Education is not merely a profession — it is a mission of love. The educator who has encountered Christ carries something irreplaceable into the classroom: a heart that has been renewed, a spirit that has been stilled, a purpose that transcends the curriculum"
SAINT JOSEMARIA ESCRIVA, 1967
”That is why I can tell you that our age needs to give back to matter and to the most trivial occurrences and situations their noble and original meaning. It needs to restore them to the service of the Kingdom of God, to spiritualise them, turning them into a means and an occasion for a continuous meeting with Jesus Christ”
