Pilgrimage to Pentecost: Receiving the Holy Spirit
About this event
The "Pilgrimage to Pentecost" course was created during the 2025 Jubilee year to prepare for the Pentecost celebrations. As pilgrims on this journey, we will be following the example of Our Lady and the first disciples, who prepared for the first Pentecost together, by reflecting on the Scriptures and devoting themselves to prayer.
The preparation course returns in 2026 with a new format, with live praise & worship and talks instead of video recordings. We will get together for 4 Tuesdays during Eastertide and 2 Tuesdays after Pentecost to prepare for and celebrate the renewal of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Pilgrimage to Pentecost two principal components:
Six weekly sessions: we start with live praise and worship, followed by a life talk based on the 6 key themes: God is love, Jesus who saves, New live in Christ, Forgiveness, receiving the Spirit and the onward journey. In small groups we discuss the talk following the booklet guidelines.
It’s free to attend but there is a booklet we will be following that costs £3.50, concessions can be made should need arise and if discussed in advance.
Doors will open at 6:45 for refreshments and pre-meeting socialising but the event will actually start at 7:30.
Takes for form of live praise and worship music, followed by a talk/seminar and then going into small groups for sharing and discussion.
Talk themes include:
28th April - God’s Love for Us
5th of May - Jesus Who Saves
12th of May - New Life in Christ
19th of May - Forgiveness/Repentance
26th of May - Receiving the Holy Spirit
2nd of June - The Onward Journey
The talks are designed for people from a Catholic background, but are open to everyone, including non-Catholic Christians and those who are exploring/reconnecting with their faith after time away from the church.
